This is a letter to Russell Davies dated 13 January 1949. It is from a member of The Chislet Colliery Welfare Band, possibly the secretary B. Heckley. The next part of the letter can be found here: http://www.edgehillstation.co.uk/resources/chislet-colliery-welfare-band-2/

I was most interested to find this site showing Chislet Colliery Band.
I played cornet in the band at age 11 starting in 1950.Several of my uncles and cousins were band members and the Band was mainly made up with Hodgsons and Heckleys..
The letter is indeed from Bert Heckley. His wife, mentioned, was Mu for Murial, not Ma.
Most of us lived in Hersden, Kent the mining village associated with Chislet Colliery.
