Two tender engines

Resource Type: Image | Posted on 10th May 2011 by Jenny Porter

Two tender locomotives are visible here, though one can only be partially seen, its smokebox having nudged ahead of its counterpart in the foreground. Exactly where they are and what is going on are not clear.

This photograph was taken at Edge Hill Shed and shows an Ex.LMSR `Patriot` class locomotive.  The locomotive beside it could be either a Class 5 or a Class 5X locomotive. It may even be a Class 8F. The locomotive main steam pipe is not clearly visible on the hidden locomotive. This would help in identification. A computer scanner would identify them both.!                                              Both locomotives are stabled and await their next turn of duty.
